"Kent State- My Alma Mater"

This is a new idea I am trying out, I used various famous words, saying and places that are held dear to us Golden Flashes/ Kent Staters and wrote them all over the state leaving a heart over where Kent State would be. I plan on doing one of these for all the colleges in Ohio. Next up will be Ohio University, Cincinnati, Cleveland State and Miami of Ohio.  

 
"The Golden Flashes"

This is another addition into my Kent State set in my O-H-I-O collection. This piece has an added layer of Navy Blue within the layers and also a whited out heart over Kent. I also plan on making new variations of these pieces for each college in Ohio using their college colors and words.

This is a newest installment in my O-H-I-O collection. This is the first piece for Kent State using Gold and Blue to create the background with a sharpie overlay.I plan on adding more to the series as the week progresses. I also plan on making new variations for this set using words and various other techniques.

This installment in the O-H-I-O collection is done completely in words with various OSU colors. The Negative space jumps out at you as a viewer, but the lettering and words make the viewer come closer. Check it out and see if you are familiar with all the OSU landmarks.

I stuck to he cross hatch marketing here, but may use the watercolor effect on other variations. I plan on doing one of these for all the colleges in Ohio. "Roberto Clemente"

This is a commissioned work of the great Pittsburg Pirate and Philanthropist Roberto Clemente. One of the most exciting players to enter the league and was a show case at how America's game could only be enhanced by Puerto Rican and Latino players. He died on his way to provide aid and supplies to Central America after an earthquake on December 31, 1972 at the age of 38. A true baseball legend.

 
"Nittany Lions"

This piece is of the Penn State Insignia, but done in my own way. I used all of Penn state's colors for both Penn State Football Home and AWAY colors, which created the background and than overlaid the insignia on top in sharpie. The insignia is created using layers of cross hatching.

 
"Joe Pa" - 1926-2012

This is a commissioned piece of the Penn State Coaching Legend, Joe Paterno. Joe was the winningest coach in Penn State history. In this piece I tried to capture as much detail as possible and really make sure I nailed this iconic figure.  

 
"First Minute, First Round: Ali V. Liston 1965"

This is my latest piece I just finished of the great boxer Muhammad Ali. I used the colors red,white and blue as a back drop. I chose this picture because of all the amazing details within the image from the fighters themselves to the camera men in the background. Also I have always wanted to create an image of the great fighter that "moved like a butterfly and stung like a bee".  

 
"Tombstone Blues"

This piece is of the great rock/folk singer Bob Dylan. I decided to use blue and green tones within the image since Dylan was always evolving from stemmed from Blues and Blue Grass roots. Bob was always a vagabond, but such an inspirational person and writer. 

 
"We Are Penn State"

This piece is of the Penn State Insignia, but done in my own way. I used numerous layers of cross hatching to create the various shades needed to create the various shades of grey necessary to create this piece. Perhaps I will use this insignia again and use my watercolor technique to create something even more dramatic.

 
"Mario Lemieux"

This piece was a commission done over the holidays as a Christmas Present. The was interested in having some sports images done of Mario Lemieux from the Pittsburgh Penguins and the insignia for Penn State University. I think Mario turned out great holding the Stanley Cup.

This piece is a part of a "Famous Authors" series I will be working on for a little bit. This piece is of Ernest Hemingway, famous author, Journalist, traveler, WWI veteran and 1954 Nobel Prize winner. He has been called one of the greatest American writes of the 20th century and has helped shape future writers for generations to come. 1899-1961.

This is an illustration project I did of taking a normal everyday event like shopping and make it completely different. I decided to make the image have toxic waste and have the shoppers wear gloves and gas masks.

This piece is done by using simple lines and various shades of blues and purples. I thought it would be interesting to use small lines to create the textures of the face, and show how just simple lines can really create something as complex as a human face.

This piece tells a story of a boy and a girl, a boy that is not noticed, but wishes he would be more than anything, but is too shy to take the first step to make her notice. I also did this picture crosshatching with a Sharpie.

This piece is done on scratch board by using a razor blade and scratching a fine layer of black ink off the paper. I decided to draw various bugs carrying and working with art supplies as a fun and interesting illustration project.
